STILL GROWING by ANNELIE VAES

Annelie is a Belgian artist; she lives in Ghent but is currently based in The Hague. She is interested in natural landscapes and uses natural elements and textures as the base for her work. She likes to combine her own reality with virtual reality and makes prints, drawings, paintings, and digital collages to bring these two worlds together. She researches the translation of natural elements in an urban or natural landscape, recreating a visual narrative. For Relational Terms, Annelie will show her love for traditional printmaking and takes it to another level. In her series Still Growing, she grew and used fungal structures to make prints with patterns that strongly reminiscent of landscapes and the subject of cartography, in which the construction of maps becomes a way to talk about memory, physical and mental structures, and imagination.
